Motherhood can be overwhelming, especially for first-time mothers. There are joyous moments like when a couple learns they are expecting, sharing the news with family members and friends, and the fun of the baby showers. But in all the excitement and emotion, new moms can sometimes overlook getting the necessary support and education they need.
Breastfeeding, for example, is an area new mothers need help in to be prepared. Rarely will mothers have people tell them how they can experience discomfort or even pain during the first few weeks of nursing; or how their nipples may crack due to a poor latch; or the overwhelming change in sleeping patterns that leave one extremely exhausted and clutching at straws. Not to mention other issues such as the stigma mother’s face when breastfeeding in public. When caught up in all these changes, mothers may feel alone, lost and overwhelmed.
That is why we thought it wise to begin the Baby Café! Here, mothers can connect with other mothers, share their experiences and nuggets of wisdom. The Baby Café takes place every Thursday between 6 and 8 pm at 3050 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca, NY 14224. Come spend time with other new and experienced moms and travel this beautiful journey together.
Besides support from other moms, we have our in-house lactation consultant and registered nurse to answer all your questions and guide you through this journey. We also talk about nutrition for breastfeeding mothers and cover issues such as foods to avoid during this period and the required calorie intake. The idea here is simple; you don’t have to do this alone.
